Working in partnership with community-based youth agencies, BCM identifies and breaks down material, social, and psychological barriers to outdoor access, helping program participants connect with themselves, their community, the natural world, and a deep sense of joy. BCM operates youth programs in six major metropolitan areas nationally: Birmingham, AL; Boston, MA; Denver, CO; Minneapolis, MN; San Francisco Bay Area, CA; and Seattle, WA.

In this video we interview Megan A, the communications manager of BCM. She believes wholeheartedly that the opportunity to develop a personal connection with nature should be accessible to everyone. While recognizing that those opportunities have far too often been linked with various forms of privilege in this country.
In her time with Big City Mountaineers, Megan has run the adventure fundraising program, managed brand partnerships, and worn a variety of other hats.
