Where else should I consider adventuring to in Ecuador?
Your options are endless honestly! However if you are into water and surf there are numerous towns along the Western side of Ecuador that offer ocean adventures. If you have a longer amount of time there are river trips into Ecuador’s Amazon Jungle. Finally you could take another flight and head to the Galapagos Islands!
We did half of our time in the Galapagos and half of our time on Ecuador’s Mainland. We broke out our time on the mainland between the National Park and a lovely small town for our basecamp for a longer hiking trek. The Llulu Llama was unforgettable!
What else should you know?
Learn some Spanish if you don’t already know it. Cash is king in the rural areas and on the Galapagos Islands.
Finally heading there in shoulder season is spectacular. We went in October and the major summer crowds had dissipated. Planning around Cotopaxi National Park Ecuador is a good start but there are many more outstanding itinerary options you could consider!
