A letter from your head happy hiker . . .
Hey there happy hiker fam! Decided it was time for a bit of an update and behind the scenes glimpse into what’s been happening our corner of the world. Like a lot of small businesses, the last few years have been hard. There’s been the general recovery after those dreaded c-word years but also a shift in what I want to put in the world. Being honest, we’ve been hanging on by a thread. I’ve been hanging on by a thread. It’s really hard to have a clear vision of the future of something you’re so damn proud to be building but also feeling so unsure of how you’re going to get there and how you’re going to pay the bills along the way.
The good news of all of that is when you’re barely hanging on and feel like you’ve hit the proverbial rock bottom (and in my case literal rockbottom because I fell face first on a rock recently) you find out what you’re actually made of. You eliminate the fluff, get down to the nitty gritty, stop wishing and hoping and start actually figuring out what needs to be done to bring your big dream to life. To be clear Happy People Hike is by no means a one woman game, we’ve got a great team over here, but they really are working to bring my vision to life.
And it is coming to life. VERY slowly, but very surly and there are some really cool things that have come our way. I think I finally feel like I’m climbing up a mountain instead of falling face first off of one. Over the next few weeks I’d like to share more about where we came from, where we’re going, who we are, what we believe in, ya know, the meat and potatoes of this place. All of that leading up to some fun announcements, new gear and more robust view into the whole point of all of this.
I have zero desire to just have some online clothing company and that’s not at all who we are. This is a community that is meant to make an impact. It’s been a slow, bumpy road and I’ve wanted to quit more times that I care to admit, but I’m still here. We’re still here. We’ve had quite a few iterations over the years but this is when it all comes together and I actually let my baby bird start to fly.
